The doctors and staff at The Garth Surgery in Guisborough are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare.We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.

September sees the start of our flu campaign. If you are in one of the following “at risk groups” you will be eligible for a flu vaccine. Risk groups include:
- Patients aged 65 years and over
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
- Asthma patients on regular steroid inhalers or frequent short courses of oral steroids.
- Chronic Degenerative Neurological Disease or MS (Multiple Sclerosis)
- Childhood seasonal flu campaign - This year the childhood seasonal flu campaign will be also be targeting children aged 2 (this only applies to children aged 2 years before 31st August 2016), 3 and 4 years old
During the Flu vaccination season the car park at the front of the surgery can get very full. If you are attending for a Flu vaccination please park at the back of the building in the staff car park and walk round to the main entrance. Please move your car once you have had your vaccination to make room for others.
Self-Care means learning to look after yourself, which could mean fewer visits to the doctor and hospital.

The national shingles immunisation programme is recommended for patients aged 70 to 79, but is being introduced in phases. Vaccine groups are defined by age on 1st September. This year people who are or will be 70, 78 or 79 years of age on that date are eligible for the shingles vaccination. Please ask your clinician or at reception for more information. Over the next few years the programme will be expanded to cover all 70 – 79 year olds.
If you have a communication need and would like to receive information in a different format to help you to understand please inform us. Such formats could include large text, easy-read documents, or you may require an interpreter for appointments.
To inform us please ask a receptionist who will help you complete a short form (or click here. to download a copy). Once we have this information, we will record it in your records so we can take steps to ensure you receive the information you can access and understand and also receive any communication support you require.
NEW November 2015 Practices in the South Tees Area have created the South Tees Access and Response (STAR) scheme. This is an extension of General Practice services and is available Mon-Fri 6:30pm – 9:30pm and Sat & Sun 8:00am – 8:00pm.
Simply call 111 and ask to be referred to the scheme.
